Trail Maintenance Notes: Over the 20 miles I did there are a lot of blowdown, some tricky some easy, but manageable, but overall in good shape!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I didn’t see any dogs today, but saw some prints in the mud! Also according to AllTrails dogs are allowed but must be kept on leash.
Bugs
Bugs: Pretty significant on some wooded summits i.e the carters but bugspray is a huge help.

Comments
Comments: First ever traverse was a huge success! Man what a day, started at about 7:34 am at the Carter Moriah trailhead, and just got off the Wildcat ski trails at 5:50 pm, and biked a very long 9.5 miles back to my car and saw my car again with so much joy at 6:45 pm. Weather was real nice, a bit windy which is good because it kept the bugs away. I highly recommend doing a traverse at least once in anyone’s lifetime, it is long, but truly life changing to just be alone (for the most part) in the beautiful mountains. However, slow and steady is huge, I could’ve gone much faster than I did at some inclines but decided to keep it slow to save energy, and it payed off HUGE, slow and steady wins the race. For wildlife, I saw a grouse descending Carter Dome on my way to Carter Notch, and a fox on my way down the Wildcat ski trails! The fox and I had a little stare down, so I walked the opposite direction for a second and it ran off. Always a good day in the whites, and wildlife can be a little bonus, and after the day was done I have 35/48 NH 4,000 footers under my belt.
