| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
A few cars could probably fit at the trailhead. There were only two here today. Success Pond Road is not too bad for most of it, but it has some very rough areas with protruding rocks and big ruts. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Snow/Ice - Small Patches |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
No water crossings worth mentioning. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There were a couple easily avoidable blowdowns. The trail to the plane crash site was quite overgrown and required significant bushwhacking. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Didn't see any dogs, but I imagine dogs would mostly be okay. They would be very muddy, though. |
| Bugs: |
Lighter than expected. No real issues. |

| Comments: |
Given how dry it has been lately, I was expecting dry trail, but there was still significant mud. Based upon the snow I found near the summit, I am guessing that the mud is still coming from snow melt. On the bog bridges near the summit, I put my trekking pole in to measure how deep the mud was, and it ate half my trekking pole! Besides the mud, I found the trail to be pretty easy. There were a lot of rocks and some significant climbs, but they weren't any worse than other 3000' range mountains. |
