Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Only one blowdown near the base of Welch. Another very large widowmaker leaning over the trail in the same area, that won't be able to be cut until it comes down.

Bugs
Bugs: Some black flies, mosquitoes, and gnats if I stopped for too long. Nothing that some 25% Deet bug spray couldn't handle.

Comments
Comments: I had avoided doing this loop for years because I don't care for busy trails and typically go for the higher peaks. What a gorgeous hike! Views for days. Due to the on and off showers that morning, I was the only car in the lot at 7:45. As soon as I got on trail, the sun came out and I had a dry hike. I went counter-clockwise and didn't see a single other hiker the entire loop. I felt like I had the mountains to myself, but found out there were many people behind me when I got back to the parking lot at 11 and found 30+ cars, with a steady stream pulling in.

The trail was mostly dry, with very little mud. Some of the slabby areas of trail would be slick and kinda sketchy when wet, so I'd avoid this loop in wet conditions. I would also strongly recommend that all the running sneaker hikers out there get themselves some hiking shoes before tackling this one. Some of the slabbed areas were quite steep and you need shoes with some solid rock-gripping capabilities!
