Hiking Trail Conditions Report |
| Peaks |
None, NH |
| Trails: |
Greeley Ponds Trail, Timber Camp Trail |
| Date of Hike: |
Saturday, May 30, 2020 |
| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Space for about a dozen cars... it gets tight fast. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Initial crossing right near the trailhead is a bit swollen but certainly doable with some thought. Crossing the Mad River nearer to the Timber Camp trail is a fair bit easier. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails were in stellar shape overall. A couple minor blow-downs here and there, but nothing problematic. Even the path leading to the old shelter was easily traveled. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Several cavorting canines out having their best day out. |
| Bugs: |
Yep. Especially around the ponds, or any wet areas, you're in their dining room. If you're not wearing bug juice, you might as well think of yourself as the mosquito equivalent of Door Dash. |
| Lost and Found: |
Lost: all the cares in the world. Found: peace and tranquility, truth and beauty. |
| Comments: |
Seen along the trail: countless painted trilliums. On the Timber Camp trail, dozens of lady slippers, just about to bloom in earnest. Some fiddleheads, about to unfurl into ferns.
Photos and a more detailed trip report are on my blog. |
