Comments: Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway, Center Nelson to Pitcher Mountain

Good early start! Met Nelson's police officer on Log Cabin Road he told us the black flies are hungry. Wonderful hike today, not too hot and a nice breeze and lots of pretty wildflowers and nice forests. Good old roads and nice trails today. We got a kick going under the road in the box culvert with a sidewalk. We took a break at the Crider Shelter--it is a fair distance off the trail but it is a nice one (guidebook says it was built with donated lumber from Carlisle Wide Plank Floors--my high school science teacher a long time ago --thank you Mr. Carlisle. Center Pond is lovely and there is a small chapel with free bottles of water, a public boat ramp and nice camps along the waters edge. We saw quite a few homeowners enjoying their camps. Andorra Forrest is out of a fairy tale it is so wide open lovely and Robinson's Brook's cascades add to the trail's charm. Just before we were to cross Route 123 we met to people walking south. We went by another couple on our way up Pitcher Mountain and then we ran into Dave Roy, he remembered me from when we did trail work with the BRATTS! Good views from the summit and up the stairs to just below the tower's cabin. Fun to see where we had come from and were we are headed next outing. We ate our lunch on the rocks in the sun. Becca flicked a wood tick off her leg (no idea how long it had been crawling around). We descended the trail and took Hubbard Hill Road back to our car. (fyi 11.3 miles)
