Comments
Comments: Took the Avalon Trail to the Willey Range Trail and summit of Mount Field, out and back to Mount Willey, then descended Willey Range Trail to A-Z Trail, Mount Tom Spur, and descent via A-Z Trail to Avalon Trail.

The monorail started about halfway between the summit of Mount Avalon and the summit of Mount Field, at which point I put on microspikes. "Monorail" is not the best description. "Balance beam" is more accurate. Kept the micros on all the way to Willey and back. There are still pocket of deep snow, and if you step off the balance beam you will post-hole. I took off the microspikes halfway between the summit of Mount Field and junction with the A-Z Trail when the trail turned into a running river. Bare-booted Mount Tom Spur and balance of the hike back to the parking area.
