It was a fine day to go do some hardcore social distancing. The trail is in great shape. Grades are modest, and the footpath is cushioned with leaf litter and duff, almost from bottom to top. Views from the fire tower on top will only be modulated by a few taller trees, local topography, and whatever haze is on the horizon. In short, bring binoculars.
Wildflowers are waking up en masse. I estimate things will get completely rowdy in that scene within the next couple weeks.
Note that the beach is closed due to COVID-19 until further notice. That said, despite the scorching temperatures today, I found the trail to be oddly cooled beyond expectation by even the slightest breeze.
Pictures and a more detailed report are on my blog, as always. |
