|Hiking Trail Conditions Report|
||Rose Mountain, NH|
||Pinnacle Road, Scout Road, Town Forest Trail, East Loop, Helen's Trail, Summit Trail|
|Date of Hike:
||Friday, May 22, 2020|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||I parked near the drivable end (for regular cars) of Pinnacle Rd. in Lyndeborough where the road turns left before the last house and becomes unmaintained. There's a small pulloff here. This adds 0.4 mi. of walking each way. Beyond this point, high clearance is needed to get to the "formal" trailhead on Scout Rd. at a gate. |
||Dry Trail |
|Water Crossing Notes:
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||This is a trail system update in progress. Most trails are fully blazed (unfortunately all the same color), and there is some sporadic temporary signage. Summit Trail is only blazed in its upper half. No blowdowns anywhere. The upper section of Scout Rd., which is not an official route, is a deep, eroded trough that's not fun to walk in. |
||Black flies and mosquitoes. Good times. |
|Lost and Found:
||Another visit to Rose to check out some trail upgrades underway by the Lyndeborough Trails Association and Piscataquog Land Trust. If you've never been here before, it could be confusing with the numerous woods roads and ATV trails. Refer to the map linked below. All trails were bone dry from this heat. Always a nice visit here with the great view of Monadnock from the cairn garden. |
There's also a new trail that leads from the summit down to French Rd. I scouted out the road but it appears it may also require high clearance.
