Comments
Comments: Nice sunny start to the hike early this morning. It provided excellent views of Mount Washington, and I posted a pic which you can see using the link below.

I started early and the cold overnight temperatures provided very firm footing on the snow. There is a lot of ice covering the lower parts of the trail which made the steep section just off the trail head a bit challenging. I was using microspikes which were essential for the lower section.
Top section still has fresh snow -- about 3 inches or so. Snowshoes would have been helpful here, but I didn't bring them.

I suspect that later in the day as temps warm that the snow will get quite soft and the trail will get pretty sloppy. There was evidence from a previous hiker of some postholes (I did not have that problem).

Overcast later in the morning which made the light very flat.

Lots of skiers at Wildcat and at Pinkham Notch (I assume going to Tuckerman's Ravine). Pinkham parking was overflowing when I descended at 10:30.
