Early morning the temperatures were below freezing and the snow was not sticky; crunchier at lower elevations and more powdery higher up.Thank you to Timex for breaking out the loop trail up Hancock. I broke out the traverse to South Hancock and the southern fork of the Loop on the descent. I did get off trail a bit on at least 2 occasions between the summits; may apologies to anyone following my tracks. I would say 5-8 inches of snow plus higher drifts between the summits. I literally glissaded down almost the entire way from South Hancock to the junction in the Loop Trail. Really fun. Nice to meet Ed - thanks for the candy. Snowshoes start to finish. |
