Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Al was hesitant to descend on a section coming down from N. Baldface because it was a sheet of ice. Punched through the ice crust with my whippet so he could gain traction in the snow below. Where there were frozen boot steps, he had no problem.

Comments
Comments: Started at 0830. 12F at trailhead. Took Slippery Brook to ascend because of dog. Choose a bluebird, low wind day to do this very exposed traverse. Today we were able to sit, refuel, and enjoy the views for a few minutes. Wore spikes to summit of N Baldface, although could have switch to crampons on final ascent to N Baldface for extra safety because of the ice crust on the steep slope. Switched to crampons on descent from N Baldface. Treaded carefully to ensure good purchase in the ice crust on the descent. A little tricky to find Bicknell Ridge trail coming off of Baldface Circle. 30F at end of hike. Finished at 1730. With the perfect weather conditions we took our time to enjoy this amazing hike.

We did not take snowshoes but one will need them when weather warms.
