Above the talus field is very steep. I used a break after the cliff band to ascend and descended to the talus field backward to assist Thor three or four feet at a time. Hard ice and firm crust hazards. |

Hiked up Vose Spur with Thor. We continued up Signal Ridge well beyond the crossing so that we had firm snow to bushwack over to the spine of Vose Spur. Left the talus field at the very upper end and followed the cliff band all the way around to a place where I could get Thor up through on his own. By the time we got back down to the field it had a frozen crust and Thor went for a short slide though he was tied at the time. Great day for a winter hike but a lot of wind. |
