Comments
Comments: Snowshoes went for a ride, wore microspikes all day. Would definitely recommend snowshoes once the temps get about freezing again. Today’s conditions were generally a couple inches of frozen crust covered with a dusting of snow, lots of ice on the trees.

Trail up to Roberts was well-packed. High Ridge Trail after Roberts was less traveled, mostly easy to stay on the traveled track, but when stepping off on either side sometimes I’d float on the crust and sometimes bust through. Didn’t make enough holes to warrant putting on the snowshoes. Other side of High Ridge Trail and up Mt Shaw is groomed and traveled snowmobile track. Trail out to Black snout was the least traveled with deep frozen postholes from a single hiker prior to our latest storm; mostly able to stay on top of the snow today beside that track. Turtleback Trail is also groomed snowmobile trail and easy walking.
