| Comments: |
The lower section of 19 Mile Brook has some hard, clear ice. Once past that it was well packed until the upper portion approaching the trail junction to Wildcat. We used Hillsound spikes on the way in. At the junction of Wildcat we put on full crampons and traded poles for ice axes. The snow on the Wildcat trail was soft. The path is easy to make out, just a bit fluffy. Step off, and the snow is very deep. None of us felt like we needed snow shoes, although that may change after today's snow.
We did run in to another group on the top that had come up Polecat from the ski resort. The had snowshoes on and said they needed them on the ridge. |
