Comments
Comments: This trip had been planned for last week, but a somewhat fortuitous illness led to postponing it to today -- which allowed us to benefit from Bryan's tracks of yesterday. We wore snowshoes car to car. Carter Ledge Trail was tracked - some open water and even bare ground in a few spots. Middle Sister Trail was tracked about halfway to the col between Middle Sister and Blue. The tracks abruptly ended, and the breaking of breakable crust began in earnest - there was lots of it. Some bony spots in drainages etc. up to the col. From the col we bushwhacked up to Blue Mountain, which was relatively straightforward. Things were a little thicker and steeper getting down and then up to NE Blue. There we met Bryan's tracks, which were much appreciated, saving us time and energy.(Thanks, Bryan!) Down to the col and then up to NW Blue, and from there downward and northward to the Kanc. Perhaps a typical bushwhack mix of some openish areas, some sort of dense stuff, and much in-between; perhaps the least pleasant was the thicker, steeper stuff going up NW Blue. A fine day on and off the trail with Gorbo.
