Comments
Comments: breakable crust was the story of the hike. not too bad down low along the forest road and initial bushwhack, but it became more problematic higher up and between the peaks. upon reaching the "sandpit" shown on the usgs the forest road ends and i bushwhacked up in initially stick forest which opened up into hardwoods for most of the moderate ascent. evergreens came in the last couple hundred feet of the ascent, but stayed generally open to the highpoint. i slabbed down off the peak trying to make headway towards the northeast peak while dropping elevation. some scrappy spruce and one section of traps, but some good open lines too down to the big flat south of the pond. a little scrappy on the flat then better going up to the northeast summit. i weighed some different options for getting out, but ultimately opted to just follow tracks back.
