Comments
Comments: 7 hearty souls started along a postholed frozen choppy trail. Some wore spikes to walk in the holes some wore snowshoes to walk around the holes. With elevation, snow became more powdery and snowshoes became the proper footwear, except for the previous hole makers, who, fortunately for us stopped about .25 miles before the cascade.
From the cascade to the ponds a nice snowshoe track was laid out. 6 of the group headed to the summit of Mt. Nancy along a very steep bushwhack herd path to the summit. Congratulations to Doug for completing another NE 100 Highest in winter. A quick descent and walk out along a well groomed snowshoe track resulted in a fine day in the woods.
Unfortunately, the postholed mess was still apparent for the final mile.
Note: If you make first tracks, please where snowshoes. It just makes it easier for others. Thanks
