Downes Brook was impassable. No snow bridges, rock hopping would be pretty risky. Worth waiting a week or so for the water to freeze over again. |

We set out for Potash Mt. around 9am this morning. We only made it to Downes Brook--water crossing was impossible without getting wet. We turned around and decided to try the logging road, to bypass the brook crossing. There's no good place to park for the logging road (got my Subaru stuck in a snow bank trying to park). Many thanks to the kind couple with Maine plates who pulled us out of the snow bank. If you decide to head up the logging road, you'll be breaking trail.
