From Diana's Bath Red Ridge Trail and Moat Mountain Trail
Great hike up North Moat. Fast and easy up to the red ridge junction. Trail is well packed with some loose powder on top incresing to steadier deep drifts on the ridge. You could wear snowshoes on the ridge but be prepared to switcht them out and change often. On the open ledges snowshoes would definitely help drifts are knee deep in places. North Moat trail is all soft powder from the summit down to about 2400ft. After that there are some sketchy parts with snow on top of slab ice that caused a couple of slips on my way down. All in all one if the most beautiful hikes I've been on in the whites. |
