There were a few blowdowns along the way - all were easily stepped over, ducked under, or gone around. |

| Comments: |
The day started with spikes - they were very helpful on the river crossing at the beginning. The rocks were iced over and the spikes made the crossing an easy one. Although we could have used them for the rest of the day we both wanted to get some time in snow shoes so we used them for the section between Jennings and Sandwich.
The trails were quiet - we were the first ones up to Sandwich and we had the lookouts and the summit all to ourselves. We did see four other people (and a dog) but that was it. At the beginning of the day the skies were blue but they got more gray as the day went on. Temperatures were mild and there was little wind - a good tune up for winter. |
