Avalon Trail-->AZ Trail-->Tom Spur-->Willey Range-->Avalon Trail
Trail was very easy to follow. The hike up to the Tom Spur could be done with or without snowshoes, but the Willey Range Trail would be far easier with snowshoes-->some were using microspikes and were slipping/sinking with each step. 8" of powder between Field and Willey becoming increasingly packed throughout the day, but still pretty loose (post-holes of 8-12" on this section without snowshoes). Avalon down was packed making it slick for the decent, but doable.
Great hike through a perfect winter wonderland. |
