Comments
Comments: From our parking spot we bare booted northeast following Forbes Mountain Rd for a short distance, crossed the gate signed foot traffic only. After crossing the gate, we soon put on our snowshoes as and soon hit a small clearing.

At this clearing the woods road to the summit curved right-ish. We continued straight crossing a small stream, turned more north bushwhacking up at steep grade towards a col between a bump to the east of Forbes.

On this steep section we ran into some very fresh bear tracks and digging. Once past the steeps we hit an old overgrown with pickers woods road and followed it for a bit until we could take no more of the pickers and jumped off bushwhacking in nice woods at easy grade. This area had great views of Ragged Mountain to the south, Tinkham Hill to the northwest and lots of deer and bear tracks.

We keep heading northeast toward that col and soon enough we were just west of the summit, crossed a woods road and climbed up some really steep stuff avoiding some ledge area, popped out on the woods road and followed for about a ¼ mile to the recognized high point with great views. On our return trip we followed the woods road all the way back to the truck. We could have taken this woods road up and back but glad we didn’t.

Winter conditions is a great time of year to do this hike seeing other folks have hiked this in other times of the year hit lots of ticks :{

Nice hike to this New Hampshire 2000 Footer & New Hampshire 500 Highest peak
