Comments
Comments: Snow and ice were the order of the day on this loop. Snow depths are minimal, only a half inch or so, but ice is lurking underneath, most notably on the upper section of East Gilford Trail along the ledges. Red Trail has some long ice floes forming but they can be avoided. Boulder Trail took some care due to a coating of snow on the rocks. The upper ledges on Boulder Trail had some ice and running water, even facing south into the sun. Shady areas in general were more icy. I carried spikes but never wore them and was able to bareboot with care. I saw a few people not carrying traction at all, which is ill-advised at this point in the season.

Excellent views from all the various outlooks and atop the fire tower, which was quite chilly. Mt. Washington has an impressive winter coat on.
