Comments
Comments: Hancock Notch Trail up to Cedar Brook Trail junction could have been barebooted, but still multiple feet of base with spring snow surface. Above there, snowshoes needed. Trail hadn't been used since most recent storms. Stayed on surface thanks to snowshoes. From near height of land, bushwhacked up to Mt. Huntington. Opted to avoid the talus slope, as there was a good foot of snow on the north slope that wasn't well consolidated. Not overly thick via the route I went, though a lot of spruce traps may pop up with the warmer temperatures. From Mt. Huntington recognized highpoint, I dropped back down to the north a few dozen vertical feet, then headed into the col and up to the recognized South Huntington highpoint. A few short sprucy stretches, but generally open woods (considering the snowpack). Spring snow along the ridge.
