Major, unmitigated erosion (and lots of trail creep) on Pine Bend Brook Trail, particularly between Scaur Ridge and the north slide junction. Unmitigated erosion north of Middle. Major unmitigated erosion and trail creep south of Middle. Major unmitigated erosion above the South Slide. Lots of blowdowns on the East Sleeper Spur. Unmitigated erosion and trail creep on upper Dicey's and upper Walden. Particularly vexing blowdown on the flats (I forget if it was still the Cutoff or Oliverian).

Comments
Comments: Pine Bend Brook was wet and slippery this morning with light sprinkles falling. Mud too. The bedrock on the upper ascent (from the massive erosion) was treacherous and would have been tough to descend.

Slow going to get onto the south slide and initially onto Kate Sleeper. Damp, but smooth going with good footing over to the Sleepers. Slippery ascending up to Rollins. We skipped the Whiteface view ledges, as the summits ended up in the fog all day. Rollins Trail was muddy in places, but otherwise not too bad. Upper Dicey's and upper Walden were both slick on the erosion exposed bed rock, along with mud pits near the summit.

Descent from the junction down wasn't too bad, but still damp and slippery in places.

No snow or ice encountered.

Nice foliage in the lower elevations. Kanc was a zoo on the drive back. Much more crowded on the Lincoln side, but it seemed like the Conway side had better colors.
