Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: light usage - user beware!!!!! We saw nobody all day once in the woods!!!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: um, part of our traverse using Gove Road had interaction with unleashed pitbulls. Amy grabbed my hiking pole for protection. They were a bit intimidating especially because they kept following us and did not want to follow the owner back. They were friendly enough. Later, near the falls, we saw another unleashed pitbull. We kept hearing barking in the woods, too, though there were no farmhouses near - be aware of this!!!!
Bugs
Bugs: none - yay!!!!!

Comments
Comments: This has been on the to-do list for a while - traversing the entire Welton Falls Trail (north and south) to go to the actual Welton Falls. The south portion was last in the 1987 WMG I believe, and was perhaps rerouted/discontinued after that. However, the points of interest are still extant in many places despite big logging cuts. We were afraid of massive prickers and saplings in the logging areas but didn't find much - it was very easy going. Eventually, we found the "ruined camp" near a very large log clearing/landing as listed in the WMG - very cool. There are still many blazes coming down south off the ridge and the trail signs still list the south portion of the trail. We eventually got to Gove Rd and walked to Welton Falls Rd, then took a left off Welton Falls Road and followed Clark Brook. We explored the brook, bushwhacking along its south side as the woods road eventually became a trail, then disappeared, and ended up at Welton Falls. Very scenic. Super-fun day! Thanks to Hiker Ed who gave me the 1987 guide book years ago, and thanks to Nordic Gal for a super-fun day!!!!
