Comments
Comments: Hiked up FR 17/Slippery Brook Trail about 1.25 miles, where the woods changed from thick spruce to clear. Bushwhacked up to summit of Round Mountain through clear woods which turned just a little scrappy near the summit. No jar, only a string and pink tag, so we hung a new one. Bushwhacked down Round until we hit FR 17B. Hiked north a short ways on the road before taking a heading toward the summit of Slope. Flat ground and clear woods for a ways then gradual ascent to the base of a cliff face so had to do some rock scrambling. Woods on the top were spruce but not very thick. Located the jar which is a bright orange PVC container next to a ledge with a cairn. Continued further north on Slope to try to avoid the cliff faces before dropping down to an old ATV road which we followed quite a ways until it seemed to turn away from our objective. Bushwhacked towards a road labelled as a 4WD road on the map. Overgrown but easy to follow. It joins FR 17B at its northernmost point. Followed FR 17B back to Slippery Brook Road, then up the road to our car.
