We followed FR 17A to a clearing. It is pretty easy to follow although pretty overgrown at times. Moose or people paths show you the way. At the clearing we noticed a gap in the woods and soon discovered a series of skid roads which we followed to about 2450'. Here we started our bushwhack which was pretty steep at times. Various moose paths or possibly remnants of the Sable Mountain trail lead us right to the jar. Going down, we followed the path as far as it took us then just took a heading for the skid road, popping back out on it at about 2300'. The rest of the way was the same as we had gone up. Did manage to find a shed moose antler: finally! |
