Comments: Bearcamp River Trail - (Community School To Bartlett Mill Road)

Today wrapped up the final segment of attempting to retrace the entire length of the Bearcamp River Trail.

The map from the 28th Ed. showed the trail entering a field just south of the Community School; now gated and fenced for a livestock field. An even older version of the trail proceeded from under the bridge along the north bank of the Bearcamp River. We parked at the Perkins Trailhead, a tiny bit north of the Community School. Proceeded down the Perkins Trail (old red blazes) until it intersected with the old Bearcamp Trail. We retraced the BT backwards along it's former path for a few yards until hitting a livestock fence. We proceeded down the trail towards the river bank. Then we BW'd along the bank westerly, finding even older faded yellow blazes.

Returned back to the trail, and proceeded SE / downstream, easily following the BC Trail along a wide woods road. Old yellow blazes were frequent.

As the old trail proceeded through the Hackett Hill Wildlife Management Area, we followed a faint herdpath through brushy prickers and logging regrowth.

The herdpath brought us through a field, and then back onto a woods road, which took us out to the east end of the former Bearcamp Trail, at Bartlett Mill Bridge Road.

(For some extra fun, we BW'd downstream, along the south bank, to see the Hell's Gate Gorge and old remnants of a Dam (mill?).)

Fun outing with my husband, Steve.
