Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The only major water crossing at Black Angel crossing Wild River was easy without removing boots. It hadn't rained in the last week, so water was low. All other water crossings were not notable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some blowdowns and mud on Wild River trail between Black Angel and Eagle Link. Eagle link is a beautiful trail, but is incredibly overgrown to the point of being a guided bushwhack. Hobblebush and maple tree saplings encroach the trail, there are many areas with slippery rocks and mud concealed by the overgrowth, leading to precarious footing, and there are a bunch of blowdowns along the trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw none, but wouldn't recommend taking one over the Baldfaces or on Eagle Link.
Bugs
Bugs: Present, but not a nuisance. We used Bond Cliff Bug Protection (natural oils-based bug repellent from Woodstock, NH) and it did the job.

Comments
Comments: Did a loop of Mt. Meader trail down to Spruce Brook Tentsite, and came back up over the Baldfaces via Eagle Link Sunday morning. After leaving the Baldface Circle Trailhead parking lot, the only people we saw until Sunday on the Baldface Circle Trail were a group of rowdy, but trail etiquette-sensible Boy Scouts hiking out of the Wild River Wilderness on the Black Angel Trail. Information about the tentsites in the Wild River Wilderness is scarce, but they have packed-earth platforms, a cooking area, water source, and no outhouse or bear protection - be ready to make a bear hang or have a canister. We saw bear prints and bear poop along our route, so they're definitely around. It was warmer than expected, but the Wild River, other minor brooks, and Emerald Pool provided refreshment throughout the hike. As stated above, Eagle Link is in abysmal shape, but is passable. I'd recommend pants to avoid brushing up on overgrowth for 2 miles. Fall colors are most certainly blooming in this area.
