Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Just trickles.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Overall, this trail could probably do with some reconstruction in areas. Lots of erosion from heavy use, resulting in rougher footing and compromised stone and wooden steps. Stone water bars on the east loop are clogged solid with debris and sediment, and wooden water bars are rotted away. One stepunder blowdown on the west loop about halfway between the Allen’s Ledge Spur and the summit. I removed one small blowdown on the east loop. The entire trail could probably use a blaze refresh as well.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure.
Bugs
Bugs: None.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: A stunning day on this mountain, I hadn’t been here in a few years. I usually do the loop clockwise but today went the other way. Some more climbing on the return trip going in this direction. Bone dry trail conditions except for one large mud pit on the east loop.

Excellent views from all the outlooks and it felt like summer again out there. Foliage is starting to pop along the Kanc and in the valleys.
