Comments
Comments: Trail in good shape. Starts off easy, starts to ascend after a mile or so. Alternates between flatter and steep sections from about 1.5 to about 2.5, then steeper to the junction with Kinsman Ridge. (Nice side trails to Kinsman Flume and Bald Peak at 2.1 and 2.2 respectivly). Increasingly rocky toward the junction, a couple of scrambles. from the junction to North Kinsman rocky, and several scrambles to the top. Nice view off the ledge to Franconia. Easy hike from North to South Kinsman, a couple of small scrambles down from North. Easy moderate climb to South Kinsman out of the col to the top. "Two" summits, the first (USGS)to the left at the top of the first rise, then 1/10 mile down is the generally accepted peak (big cairn). Somewhat limited views, but nice. (Careful back down at the Bald Peak trail split. If you miss the sharp right, going straight takes you off Mt. Kinsman trail toward the peak)
Started at 1245pm, Arrived back at 755PM, last hour in the twilight/dark. Nice hike, total distance 10.4 miles, 3,816 total feet of vertical.
