Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I was surprised to see that the old parking area along Stinson Lake Road in Ellsworth has been cleared and expanded with new signage. The road itself has also been rebuilt north of the lake and is now paved all the way to the trailhead. Land across from the trailhead has also been cleared, maybe for home construction?

Comments
Comments: A good day to revisit an old favorite, with a counter-clockwise loop out to the ponds and shelter. Trails are dry with some areas of mud. The Cutoff is very “wilderness-ey”, so don’t expect pristine conditions. Water is very low everywhere, including the ponds. We need some rain. The shelter is still in good shape. A couple other cars in the lot during the day, but I saw no one else on this loop. Super quiet and very remote feeling in this area, even though you aren’t far from civilization.
