Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Lincoln Woods parking lot was about 90% full at 7a when I arrived.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings were passable by rock-hopping without getting your feet wet. There was a lot of muddy areas which were less avoidable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were very muddy in some places but they were maintained as well as possible I think. The Owl’s Head Path slide is very slippery with wet rocks and lots of small loose rocks which make traction difficult.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw 5-10 dogs on the trail. All were friendly and well behaved so they didn’t leave too big of an impression.
Bugs
Bugs: Some mosquitoes, but nothing bad. We are in the woods near standing water after all. The bugs were really minimal but I passed one guy in a full bug net. I don’t know why.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There was a black diamond head lamp at the intersection of the Lincoln Brook trail and the Owl’s Head Path.

Comments
Comments: Overall a fun hike. The majority of the hike basically flat or a very gentle grade, but the Owl’s Head Path is a very steep and challenging rock slide area. I would recommend taking the Black Pond bushwhack both ways. It cuts out at least half a mile of distance each way and it is a well established path so it goes quick.
