Comments: I was interested in revisiting Tripyramids Loop in Waterville Valley and decided to try something a little different. I did this loop back in 2007 taking the North Slide route. This time I'd take advantage of the Snows Mountain ski lift offered by Waterville Valley mountain operations and take Upper Snows Mountain Trail to junction with Livermore Trail, stash bike and take the Scaur Ridge Trail instead of north slide. The lift starts at 10:00 AM in summer months. Tickets can be pruchased at the station for $11/person or $9/person for seniors. The late start is no problem since I would have nice downhill cruise to the beginning of the junction for the Tripyramid Loop trails followed by downhill cruise back to the lift station at end of the loop. My multi-mode plan worked out well for the most part except I forgot to bring my bike helmet so my down hill cruise was taken at slower speed. It was great to return to my bike and cruise most of the way back to parking lot at the lift station. This left time to do a bit of off-trail hunting for remains of the old Swazeytown dam. Scaur Ridge Trail is in great shape very pleasant hiking. The ascent to North peak is rough and involves much scrambling. south Slide is rough and gravelly requires much careful foot and hand placement, but offered fine views of Lost Pass and Sandwich Mountain if one stops. Turn-off for Kate Sleeper Trail could be easy to miss as there is no sign - just three-prong arrow painted on rock.
