I got a spot in the actual lot on Thompson Falls Road at 1pm. A were just maybe 4 other cars there and a bus. Some were parked along the road though so I imagine it overflowed earlier in the day. I was the only car left shortly before 8pm. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
One very small one on Black Cap Connector Trail that’s basically a stepovers. The crossing near the road on the abondoned Artist Falls Trail that’s described as “difficult†in the guidebook wasn’t that high. What’s difficult about it is that it’s really a Cascade so you’re crossing over wet rock and there’s a cleft you have to cross over on some logs where he water flows fast and at least a couple feet deep underneath. Hard to describe but you’ll get it when you see it. Very pretty. |

Overall the trails are in great shape. I think I noticed one leaner in the trail along Black Cap Connector and that was it. All the trails are blazed but Black Cap Connector (yellow blaze) is not blazed often and some are faded. Could use some newer and more frequently places blazes. |

I didn’t see any but I imagine this would be a good trail for dogs. Not a whole lot of water though. |

I didn’t notice any black flies but the mosquitos were out (not awful) and bug spray was used.

14+ miles in under 7 hours made me a happy man! Very hot and sweaty to be starting in the heat of the day though. Only saw a few others out there two of which were mountain bikers around Cranmore.
The trails are in good shape and easy to follow although most show lots of erosion. There’s one left turn on Black
Caps Connector (closer towards its beginning near Peaked Mtn Trail) that seems to intentionally blocked with some deadfall to let you know the trail goes another way but that is indeed the trail. This was the only time I doubted where the trail went all day although Peaked Mtn Connector is unblazed and a bit obscure as it’s not well travelled. Likewise the portion of Balck Cap Connector that diverges from the snowmobile trail isn’t as well travelled but was still easy to follow. If redlining from the other direction especially keep an eye out for where the trail and the snowmobile trail split as I never noticed the trail diverging in the other direction.
You have to continue past the end of Cranmore Trail along the service road to get the views on Cranmore. |
