|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Four Soldiers could use a weed whacker in a lot of spots... ferny, grassy, hobble-brushy, you name it, it's there. Quite muddy, and the bog bridges (when you could see them under all the grass) were evil slickery. One particularly grown in area at the first logging road the trail crosses, where the trail is obscure leaving the road. Underhill better overall, but still with brush, mud, and slick bridges. Crescent Ridge and Carlton Notch in great shape. |

| Comments: |
Rainy loop to Pond of Safety today with Mike. It only rained for about 30 minutes while on Four Soldiers between Crescent Ridge and Underhill, but it came down heavy. Very damp going with the brush encroaching. All quiet and foggy at the pond, where a welcome breeze dealt with the mosquitoes temporarily. Much nicer going up to the ridge, and Carlton Notch was a good descent trail after such brushy going in the early part of the hike. Of course the sun came out when we got back to the car. |
