Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We parked at the log landingaround 2550'. We took Cedar Brook rd from rt 145, tried to come in the backside and take the road to the right at 8.9 miles but found that road to be blocked with a gate right after mile 1. So we turned back to the junction and turned right. We continues on pisgah mountain rd for about 5 miles or so and came to a fork in the road where I had to park last time we came here because there was a gate. Well no more gate so we took the right and made it to the log landing over a mile later.

Comments
Comments: Well Melissa needed this peak and I was not so happy about having to do it again but that is what friends are for right? haha We just did West Magalloway and now over to this hellchild I did a few years ago. I had my old track and someone else's on my phone. We both set our compass to the peak and headed into the skidder mess. It has not rained much which was key, but still a soggy mess so we cut left and went into the woods. We stuck to a pretty good line heading up aiming for ferns and hobblebush which were about up to knees about. Moose activity was everywhere but saw no moose. We did run up on a deathbed though! saw the bottom jaw and the scapulas which was wicked cool. We just went with the path of least resistance and tried to stay out of the grass which ment water. We made it to the top with no scrappiness like everyone including myself had to deal with. We signed in and head backdown a little to the right becasue the mountain was just bringing up back that way. We cut a little left here and there and past the deathbed again. Melissa ended up finding another bone in another area about 16" long! We made it back tot he car and out before any of the rain!
