Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The parking lot is small, maybe 8 cars total, and not marked. It's right after the bridge.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: This trail crosses the brook twice but can easily be rock hopped. We had 2 dogs with us who really enjoyed the many brook accesses! They managed to find deep enough places to get themselves thoroughly soaked while we looked for the shallower areas to cross.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There are 2 seemingly new red blazes at the beginning of the trail but they peter out pretty quickly. A few blazes are painted on the rocks but quite faded. You can follow the herd path, but I imagine in fall when the trails are covered in new, as opposed to well trodden leaves, or snow in winter, this trail would be hard to follow. It could benefit from some new blazes painted on the trees. The trail is easy to negotiate with only a couple of step-over blowdowns.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Our dogs enjoyed this trail, especially the bottom half where they could access the water. The top half doesn't have any water so you need to bring some for your dogs. (Or make them carry their own!) It's a nice trail for dogs with no scrambles and they did not experience any difficulty with any part of it.
Bugs
Bugs: Not a problem. Just a few isolated bugs, no swarms. A little bug spray was sufficient, we did not use our bug nets.

Comments
Comments: No views till you reach the summit, but the summit views are worth the wait! I expected to be looking out onto Winnipesaukee, but it looks east and north instead toward Ossipee Lake. You can see Chocorua, Washington, the Wildcats and Carters from the summit.
