Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I'd heard various tales of the short unmaintained section of Pleasant Valley Road in Brookfield, and I knew parking wasn't allowed by the last house, so I parked roadside at the old cemetery 0.2 mi. from the end of the road. As it turns out, the drive all the way into the parking turnaround past the last house would have been fine. Any car can make it here with care, but watch out for some protruding rocks. This stretch is not plowed in winter.

Comments
Comments: After a short road walk, I turned left at the red gate at the parking turnaround and headed for Tumbledown along an eroded woods road. Footing is rocky with mud in places and there was recent evidence of Jeep use. At the height of land, I turned left onto a second woods road and climbed easily to the ledgy summit, which has great views toward the Moose Mountains. A lower ledge opened up a better view over Kingswood Lake.

Upon returning to the turnaround, I then turned right onto the red-gated woods road, which ascends very gently to a four way junction. I turned sharply left, reached a clearing, bore right twice, and arrived at an area that had previously been logged over. Here, the woods roads ended, but a rough path continued ahead through low growth and TONS of Blueberry shrubs (some were ripe but most were not). This led to a false bump, then onto the high point which is clearly visible ahead. Great views of the Belknaps and over to the Sandwich Range from the partly open summit (1,150 ft.). A neat spot. I followed the same route out.
