Bugs: Not bad for most of the trip, except the summit of Lafayette, where they were pretty bad. Saw a bunch of hikers with head nets.

Comments
Comments: What a great day for Franconia Ridge. After not getting out last weekend I was anxious AF to get out all week. Made quick work of the bike path and the first few miles of Flume Slide, then the work started. Flume Slide lived up to its billing, as it is very steep and rough for a long distance, with wet slab (which wasn't that bad today)that requires care with foot placement. Ridge Trail in good shape, with lots of evidence of clean-up between Liberty and Haystack. Some mud patches, but all avoidable by rock hopping. Encountered relatively few people until Haystack; after that it was the expected parade. Everybody was friendly and having fun on a very hot day that could have used a little more breeze, but was really nice nonetheless. I was pretty spent when I was done, so I stopped at the Basin and soaked my feet for a bit. Water was cold, but felt great.
