Comments
Comments: Had a great hike yesterday, as I continue to explore new trails and "features" or Points of Interest on Monadnock. I did a unique "loop" that would kind of look like two lollipops, one on top of the other. Using the map and guide, my hike was roughly 6.3 miles with 1,850 ft. elevation gain. I really enjoyed Bald Rock, one of two official "sub peaks" of Monadnock. It has an incredible view up towards the summit proper. This hike is a great way to explore some of Monadnock's lesser known beauty and interesting features, that keeps you away from the throngs of people for the majority of the time. The Points of Interest that I explored include: Hunter's Rock, Hello Rock, Point Surprise, What Cheer Point, Black-Throated Blue Point, Ainsworth's Seat, Thoreau's Seat, Emerson's Sea, Wolf's Den, Graphite Mine, Bald Rock, and Four Spots. Considering this area saw thunderstorms the day before my hike (Sunday), there wasn't really any standing/running water on these trails, very little mud, and most of the exposed rock/ledges higher up are all dry. Add in yesterday's amazing weather and it was a wonderful excursion.
