Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Gale River trailhead was 3/4 full at 8:30 am and overflowing at 4 pm. The Garfield trailhead was overflowing past the bridge at 4 pm. Please use common sense and only park on one side of the road if the road is narrow.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All were easily rock hopped today.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Overall trails were in good shape. Met a man brushing out Garfield Ridge Tr between Gale River Tr & Garfield Tr. Some large blowdowns that will require an ax or large saw on the Garfield Tr. The old snowmobile trail is becoming quite grown in.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw plenty out today. Most well behaved. Once again, please use common sense. One person had their dog tied to the side of the trail while they took a break at the top of the steep section below Garfield Ridge Campsite making it impossible to pass more than a couple feet from the dog.
Bugs
Bugs: Yes, all kinds. Worst was at the trailhead. A stiff breeze kept them at bay along the ridge. It was our first time picking up some ticks in the Whites. Five on Marlie and one one myself. Probably from the pictures we took in the lupine field along the old snowmobile trail.

Comments
Comments: Another great day out with Marlie. Found a nice restricted view from Galehead just to the left of the summit cairn. Decided to check out Garfield Ridge East Pk since I missed it a couple years ago. It did not disappoint. Garfield's summit was very busy but we managed to find a spot to ourselves for a little bit. First hike of the year without any snow.
