Comments
Comments: No snow for most of the Nineteen Mile Brook Trail. Only a small stretch of snow just downhill of Carter Notch. Wildcat Ridge Trail from Carter Notch to Wildcat A was mostly bare ground with the most snow near the bottom. The slide section is snow free. The ridge between peak A and D is a mix of dry surface, mud, and snow of various depth. The snow had a stable surface which prevented post holing. The majority of the ridge was free of snow although there is a surprising amount of snow for June 1st. No traction or flotation is required.
Lots of hobblebush flowers along with some trillium. Lots of hikers with most coming from the Pinkham Notch approach. No AT thru hikers. Nice views of the Presidential Range and the eastern ravines below the cloud ceiling.
