|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Brooks and drainages were all simple crossings. However, in many areas, the trail itself was a drainage and "crossing" was along the longitudinal axis, not the lateral. Waterproof footwear is your friend. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails were in decent shape. Some minor blow-downs, but no major maintenance issues. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Three pups having the time of their lives. |
|
| Bugs: |
Black flies. Oh wow, black flies. At times, it seemed not even the wind would hold them in abeyance. |
|
| Lost and Found: |
One light blue microfiber hand towel. Left at the trailhead signboard. |

| Comments: |
Apart from the muddy reality of springtime hiking, today was a fine day out. There's a huge amount of outright sodden trail, and so it's debatable from an erosion standpoint whether it's smart to hike Smarts for a bit. But if you decide to give it a go, the wildflowers are uttering joyous leaves of bright colors. (Hat tip to Whitman.) Even if you keep to the lower elevations, the flowers are going to knock your socks off.
Photos took themselves today, and they're on my blog. |
