Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The blazing is pretty ridiculous out here. For instance on the green trails around round pond and piper, every other or third tree is blazed, you can see six different sets of blazes on a straight away of red/green by the pond, yet on switchbacks on quarry or belknap, there is one white blaze now and then. The trail adopters do a great job out here, but the amount of blazes is absurd. It's a logging road, how many blazes do you need?
Dog-Related Notes

Comments
Comments: Glorious spring conditions today. Went with the intent to get all 12 today but we skipped Whiteface and Rowe given the conditions and our disdain for them. We used our hillsounds basically end to end. I'm not sure if I'd recommend taking your crappy spikes or your good ones. It's a losing battle to take them on and off as the trail conditions change every 50 feet. You might end up wrecking your good spikes, but you crappy spikes but not bite enough into the blue ice on the trail, which i'd estimate 60% of this traverse was. Just straight up blue ice that even newish hillsounds where not biting into much. Use caution and judgement. We skipped the quarry ledges because they seemed ripe for a broken leg. Around Round Pond you could bareboot until you make the hard 90 up to piper. It's just a maddening mix of ice, snow hidden by leaves, mud, bare ground, and rock faces.

Wet feet, 10 peaks, it was a darn great day though!
