Today we wore snowshoes car to car and for good reason. We started out with no new snow down low. We caught up to a group of 4 just below the ledges which they were breaking trail. 6-12" at that point. So we took our turn breaking trail up the ledges and to Mt. Whiteface. On the ledges the drifts were much deeper and there was ice under the snow making it difficult in places. Thankfully the group of 4 decided to head across the Rollins trail so we all took turns breaking trail. (it would have been really tough just the two of us) We lost trail 2-3 times but managed to find it again so be patient with our tracks. They are not that far off and they do go all the way to Dicey's Mill Tr.. At the Juct. the wonderful group of 4 decided to head down while we decided to go snag Mt. Passaconaway. Dicey's Mills trail did have a track going on it but with warm temps it was more like corn snow and didn't pack much. So go enjoy this trail and be sure to wear your snowshoes. The snow is Deep!
A sincere thanks to all who broke out trails this weekend. It wasn't easy. |
