Comments: Surprisingly, On the day we came for the hike, the trail was broken down 1 ago or the same day we hikes. Most of the trail to Welch, snowshoes were the best option. However when you arrived to the granite summit. There were very thick layer of ice. Even microspikes were difficult to deal with. The best option would have been crampons, we did not have any, but manage to go on deep snow to compensate that thick layer of ice. Once you arrive to the top of welsh, you will start to go down to go to Dickey. There is a big icy block of granite that was highly slippery. I slipt on it, with my snowshoes and thought I was sliding straight to death.... Luckily enough, I manage to stop my falling and get traction back. My boyfriend switched to microspike but was still pretty technical part. After that , there were not real issue. I kept my snowshoes, and switch again to microspike on top of dickey. I had my ice axe yo help and break some crust of ice to get more traction of the rocks. But the summit of the 2 mountains would be better with crampons. The way down from dickey was safe and no real danger.

Just be very careful on the top of these summit. THe view on the entire loop was wonderful! really worth if.
