Hard packed to Avalon/A-z junction, then slighty softer up Avalon. Lots of butt prints and grooves from people slipping and sliding, but overall it was fine in snowshoes. Willey Range Trail from Field to Willey is broken but quite soft, so snowshoes are recommended. Field to Tom was more of the same and Mt. Tom Spur was fairly well packed.
Piper joined me for this portion of the day's outing and had a great time. In general, all of the trails are still too soft for bare boots, with the exception of the first 1.3 miles of Avalon to the jct. with A-Z. Once they see more feet and we have a couple of freeze/thaws, it'll probably set up nicely. |
