Comments
Comments: We starting out on a packed trail that was well traveled by tourist. Other hikers had broken out up to 2.5 miles of Sabbaday Brook Trail. At roughly 2200 feet the trail goes straight or takes a right down into drainage - stay right. It was near this fork where others had turned back.
Navigation was challenging and the last 500 feet of elevation we did a ton of slide backs - one step forward and 4 steps worth of sliding backward, over and over. The crew got ahead of me breaking over a foot and I just kept sinking. At one point I saw 2 feet of snow knocked off the trail and I was still sinking up to my knee. Once I starting hauling myself up with branches and trees and got out of the trench things got easier. Thanks to a solid group with a positive attitude - Dot, Rick, and Billy.

All that matters is the Tris are broken out - bring your snowshoes, you'll need them. The ridge is a sidewalk.

As a side note, the snowbanks are sky-high near Pine Bend Brook Trail, so no option for parking there. The lot for the Osceolas looks well driven on and easy to get in and out.
